Yáahl Construction was founded as a culmination of Shawn Crosby’s diverse entrepreneurial journey and his vision to make a significant impact in the construction industry. With roots in the commercial fishing industry and a successful stint in the sports fishing charter business through ‘Ocean Star Charters’, Shawn’s business acumen was well-established. His venture into the construction sector with ‘Gutter Brothers’ further solidified his reputation, earning the title of 2010 ‘Aboriginal Business of the Year’. In 2011, Shawn, along with his family, settled in the lower mainland on Tsawwassen First Nation Land, where Gutter Brothers continued to thrive. Recognizing a niche in the local construction market, Shawn, alongside his childhood friends Mark Lavallee and Desmond Vernon, launched Yáahl Construction Solutions. This venture was not just a business endeavor but a collaborative effort to blend Shawn’s entrepreneurial skills with Mark and Desmond’s extensive experience in technical construction from Tom Wood Contracting. Together, they aimed to create a unique indigenous construction entity that would stand out for its expertise, community involvement, and innovative approach in the construction sector.
